Can I use both onboard (Asus mobo) sound at the same time as a PCI soundcard (e-mu 0404)?

Is sound output from both, or do I have to set a 'primary' soundcard?

Up til now I've only use the e-mu 0404, but it isn't very compatible with DirectX sound in some newer games (e.g. Oblivion, Hitman: BM), updating drivers haven't helped, hence the need to use onboard sound.

Great, just what I need, do I need to do anything special to set it up?

Yep the E-mu 0404 is purely for ASIO low latency stuff.

Nice

Yep got it working so that my FL Studio uses the 0404, and everything else uses the motherboard sound. Works a treat, plus no swapping cables cos of 2 aux inputs on my amp :)

One thing - as a fellow 0404 owner, do you know if there's a way of avoiding installing the E-MU patchmix thingy? It slows down my machine startup, and I don't use any of the onboard DSP or custom recording settings (as far as I know anyway)... I only ever bought it for the low latency with MIDI input.
