I have 2 overseas trips coming up (Tenerife and USA) and want to take my 8520. I'm on contract with Orange and they have quoted £3/Mb for using my email in Tenerife and £8/Mb in the USA. Does that sound about right? Roughly how many text only emails are we talking about in a Mb? How is my Blackberry Messenger effected by this?

Might be better off turning off GPRS data and use free wifi instead at coffee shops/hotels/bars etc.
When I was in Italy in January this year T-Mobile for some reason gave me free roaming data on the TIM network. I used about 20mb of data and I was checking my online a account usage and it showed up as free on TIM, I suspect I should have been paying for the data....
I am going back to Italy in June / July so I am hoping to get free data again.

Depends on how much you use BBM...usually its kb's but if your using it a lot then it can run into mb's if your not careful. Emails can range from a few kb's to a few mb's.

If you dont want to be hit by big data roaming charges then just set the data connection to turn off once your out of the country...you can either set it to off, on or prompt where it will prompt you if you want to turn the data connection on.
