Using a Firestick on an Ultrawide monitor - Stretched UI/Image

I have a 21:9 3400x1400 monitor with an HDMI input and wish to use my Firestick 4k with it however when I plug it in and turn it on the firestick UI is stretched across the monitor rather than simply putting black borders on either side and giving me 16:9. Because the Firestick UI is stretched this obviously means all video from it is stretched. I was not expecting it to support 21:9 natively but rather than stretching the image I assumed it would simply give me 16:9 with black borders, resulting in no stretching.

I have had a look around the Firestick settings but can't seem to find a solution to this and was wondering if any smart folk here could help or confirm if it's simply not possible to have it working how I've described above (16:9 with black borders).

Either set in your monitor "no scaling " or firestick to 21:9 (which you've already tried)

Does your monitor have scaling modes?

Thanks for the response. The firestick has no aspect ratio setting (only 'resolution' under the 'display' preferences) and my monitor doesn't seem to be able to change it's aspect ratio either.

There is something called 'wide mode' in the monitors menu but it's greyed out and can't be changed :(

Is there a AV mode and PC mode in the monitor? Perhaps that'll unlock aspect control settings. Have you emailed the monitor manufacturer?

Ok, seems i have to disable both adaptive sync and ultra low latency modes on the monitor for the wide mode setting to be changed. Did this and now set it to aspect and that works.

Bit of a ballache having to do that everytime i switch between my PC (DP) and Firestick (HDMI) inputs but it is at least a solution.

Thanks !

Is firestick also upscaling the 1920x1080 stream, as opposed to downscaling the 4K picture ?
- I had hoped roku 4k stick would downscale for my 2560x1440, but only sends the 1080 stream.

Most likely it'll output 1920x1080 and the screen will upscale to native.

Probably if you send 4k the monitor will be out of range and send signal back the fire stick not compatible and drop down to a compatible resolution
