I've just built an outdoor bench to house my Ooni pizza oven and the top of it measures 120cm x 60cm exactly.

I've been thinking about what to use as a "work surface" on it for prepping dough and topping pizzas and originally I was going to buy a big wooden chopping board and use that, however, I was just looking at tiles and see that 120x60 is a reasonably common size of tile.

If I just bought one tile and plonked it on top (would use an adhesive to stick it to the table top) would it degrade if it is left out in the rain or would it be OK? It would be exposed to the elements at the sides.

The idea of using a tile is a bit more appealing than the chopping board as it would create a complete work surface for the entire table and would be a lot more weather proof and hard wearing compared to a wooden chopping board, and could be left out all year round.

Common size of 120 x 60 what? Surely the common size is in mm... Not cm?

Yeh, it seemed fairly common as the standard size for an extra large tile so I purchased one and plonked it on my new table. Fits excellently.

My query was more to do with will there be an issue with being outside and the sides of the tile exposed to rain etc. I know normally you would have multiple tiles grouted and sealed that way but wasnt sure if just leaving it completely open was going to be a problem or not long term.
