I want to use my laptop to access my old pc, iam using my new pc with my only monitor. Iam sure ive done this before but its not working. Plugged the vga cable from the old pc to laptop, fired up the old pc and then turned on the laptop and the laptop has booted instead off the pc.

What am I doning wrong?

The screen on a laptop is wired up inside, so unless you take it apart and do some rewiring then it wouldn't really work. However, i asked this question ages ago, and someone reccomended some software. It's all done over the LAN. Install the client software on the laptop, and it acts as a second screen whilst you control everything with your main PC.

Kinda hard to explain but i'm sure you understand :)

Nah not anymore, don't require an extra screen now. When i did use the software though, i can remember it being pretty good. Microsoft even reccomend it :)
