Using a laptop as primary gaming pc

Now I know you can build a laptop these days or spec one that can handle everything thrown at it, the flaw/problem I have with it is the usage.

In the move to the new house I was going to do away with desk top computers and instead go for a couple of high spec custom laptops, this would mean no need for computer desks for myself and wife, no bulky monitors and the laptops could be used wherever in the house needed.

That is what brought up the flaw, both myself and wife are gamers we can spend 12+ hours a day on the pc, at our desks we have comfortable gaming chairs and the monitor/keyboard setup is at the correct height so that neck problems and hand issues do not happen.

Translate that to a laptop whose primary benefit is portability around the house and I could not find a safe long term way to use one.

Sitting on the sofa is a great idea in theory plug it into the charger behind the couch, on your knee and enjoy it but most couch do not offer good back support plus laptops on your knee mean you are looking at a downward angle.

We looked into portable desks that fold away and sit at the right height but none are really fit for long term use when paired with a living room couch.

Use them on a desk well if you are doing that then a desktop is easier to use.

Any thoughts of something I missed ?

DO NOT put laptops on sofas , knees, carpets beds etc.
You will block the cooling vents and fill the laptop full of dust and fluff!
Laptop refers to the size no the usage

Considering the amount of time you and your wife spending gaming/on a PC, and also considering you still have the good chairs and setups - why change?

Whats the reason for this anyway? Space saving?

I don't think you will get a good solution for long term laptop gaming except having a dedicated space but as you mentioned, if you need a dedicated space why bother with the laptops.

in our current house we have a long living room which allows us to have the computers tv/ps4/xbox one all in the same room without crowding.

The new room will need to cover a four person sofa, 57" primary tv (linked to a media pc) and two gaming computers because neither of us want to be stuck in the back spare bedroom for gaming when we spend so much time with that as our hobby.

I was just asking incase If we could have gone the laptop way I was going to setup the gaming computers in the back bedroom linked via team viewer to us sitting in the living room laptops.

The other option is small form factor computers which brings along its own issues as we are both interested in the occulus rift.
