Hi guys,

not sure if this is in the right place so mods feel free to move it.

What's the easiest way to use a Logitech Harmony remote with a HTPC running XBMC? Can I just buy a plug in IR receiver? Are they available seperately, or just packed with specific HTPC remotes?

Cheers,

Jed.

u'll need an IR receiver of some kind. Most of them work with the Harmony.

some HTPC cases come with the receivers built in, especially the ones with LCD displays.

not sure if u'll easily be able to buy one seperatly thou, might have to buy a remote that comes with one, a generic windows remote will most likly work.

what OS is XBMC running on ?
coz i know linux has trouble with some of the cheaper remotes. The microsoft one is best supported.

otherwise the speedlink remote can be found cheap and works fine with the harmoney

i am using os win 7 64bit.

XBMC is the latest stable release. Using it on my laptop.

There is so many remotes out there that come with the usb ir receiver, in theory i wont need the remote just the usb ir receiver, as will use my logitech harmony remote with it.

just needed to know which one to buy, as i have no knowledge on this. Just dont want to buy the wrong one.
