Hi

As per title, we have a PIII600e that I would like to use as a file store server... Windows XP (or similar) is too 'heavy' and resource intensive. Is there a good light OS out there that will let us upload/ download files to the machine easily?

Thanks

Any Linux distribution with samba configured will be fine for windows pcs to access. That's basically what the older NAS boxes were.

clark connect, was pretty comprehensive last time I used it. Ubutu (or debian) is a no brainer (use the server only install (i.e no GUI) if you don't want to overload it. Remote configuration and package management is awesome.
