I have been using an old PC as NAS.....now I have a replacment for it...this has dual NIC built into the m/board.
What benefit would I gain if I used both of these and how would I use them.
Cheers.

John.

Probably none is the simplest answer.

To do anything with them you're going to need a managed switch and the drivers will need to support teaming.

Been loads of threads about this recently so I'd recommend having a search back through the last 2-3 weeks of posts.

Chances are your HDDs would be a bottleneck and not be able to fully utilize 2x 1Gb connections bonded together, unless you are running some sort of RAID setup in your NAS.

Thanks guys.....yes it will be a RAID 1 setup with dedicated RAID controller.
One final Q, would I have any advantage if I installed a gigabit LAN card and went to a Gigabit (unmanaged) Switch, given that the rest of the house network (5 machines) are 10/100 or 802/11.

Cheers.
John.
