using a proxy to watch U.S shows..

first of all sorry if this is some how agaisnt the rules >< i know NOTHING about proxy lol

I really wish to watch a show at this address http://www.ovguide.com/tv_episode/tabathas-salon-takeover-season-1-episode-1-510211

But it keeps saying im not in the right location. Im guessing you have to be in the U.S to watch it. Is there anyway i can watch it from inside the uk at that website? I dont have a clue how to use a proxy etc. Any one got any quick fixs?
 
You need a vpn because proxys only handle the http side of things. Flash has a feature, which they oddly don't want to publicise, that site can use the check you ip (which they all do). You need a vpn, paid because free ones are only intend for browsing i.e. lack bandwidth, although its not really a quick fix.

A quick fix would be an ironkey, but I'm not sure how it would deal with flash despite being designed with ff portable on-board, so I can't endorse it. It is however designed to uses a secure us vpn by default.

Legality? Well, for the record every corporation operating on both continents uses vpns to access not only their own things but stuff only available in another country. Amazon is the best example. Phone then, or get them to phone you, and you'll find it's an American. They use a vpn to circumvent international call charges :p Technically if some thing's only licensed in one country you're breaking the law, but the company telling you this are using their own vpns for the same function because there's no way to telling. Plenty of people use vpns to access the iplayer when abroad. For the most part vpns are ignored, although if they ever did decided to go aftr people there'd be no real way to catch then not to mention it'd be both hypocritical, a complete waste of money and virtually impossible to prove anything.

It ultimately depends on whether you feel it's worth a fiver a month. Also remember to turn the vpn off when you're not watching videos, pings would be bad and there's some things I simply don't trust on a vpn I don't control.

When i looked into this previously, the only success i had without paying for a dedicated VPN was http://hotspotshield.com/

It gives you an IP Address which is based in the USA and then allows things like NetFlix and Hulu to play, but the speed does vary depending on a lot of factors.
