Using a PS2 and 360 vertically- disk scratches?

In the past I've always heard rumours and talk that having your PS2 and then Xbox 360 vertically would scratch the disks. Is this actually true or is it just playground bs?

i don't see how it would make a difference as the magnet should keep the disk firmly in place when spinning up.

If you move your 360 in use, yes. Otherwise no more than normal

Yes, I've had my 360 in vertical position for donkeys years. Never got a scratched disc. All those stories are resulting from people who've knocked their consoles over, I bet.

Think I had my PS2 both upright and on it's side, never noticed any scratching but it was years ago.

My step son did this years ago with a brand new FIFA and it gouged a very deep scratch in the disk. It also tells you in the manual not to do it.

Me as well, DO NOT change orientation either way while powered at all.

Will give your disc bad, deep circular irreparable scratches.
