Using a ps3 on a pc tft? Can it be done...

Iv been told by everyone in the console shops that you cant set up a ps3 on a normal flat screen pc monitor.

Is this true? And if not, whats the best way for me to hook up a ps3 to my 22" Dell monitor?

Will the picture look ok? I mean obviously it wont be as great as a 1080p 50" plasma or LCD, but i mean it wont look stretched or blury or anything?

If you monitor has HDCP then yes, very easily, you simply need a HDMI -> DVI cable or converter. If it doesn't have HDCP then it won't be anywhere near as simple or cheap. If your monitor has 1:1 pixel mapping it won't stretch the screen, if it doesn't then the vertical aspect of the picture will be slightly stretched due to a monitor being 16:10 but a standard TV being 16:9.

I used to use my PS3 on my 19" monitor, while the picture was slightly stretched it was still more than usable.

Not sure if my monitor has HDCP or pixel mapping but its only about a 2 years old and was a top of the range 22" Dell at the time of purchase so should be ok.

I used to have the xbox360 connected to the monitor (although i dont remember how) and the picture was perfect. If that helps anyone giving me advice? Although the xbox 360 i have is one of the first ones and so doesnt have HDMI i dont think?

So basically all i need is a cable which has DVI one side, which will go into my monitor, and HDMI the other, which will go into the ps3?

And how would i connect my 5.1 creative speakers to the ps3? At the moment its 3 seperate wires that go directly into my motherboard, ond for front, one for back and one for the woofer i believe?

Agaim, i used to have the sound set up on my xbox 360 to so im assuming there must be an easy way, if not the same way?!

Anyone suggest (within the forum rules) where i can get a hdmi to dvi adaptor from for under £20 as thats the cheapest i can find in shops near me.

This does not include mail order from internet, auction site etc as i am picking up the console tomorrow and want to play on it same day!
