Using a ps3 to convert videos

Given the processing power of the ps3 is there any way of using it to convert videos?

I've tried googling to see if anything comes up but all i get is links for programs to convert for ps3 use

I expect the answer to be a resounding no, but you never know unless you ask!

Fair enough, I really didnt expect it to be possible. But what with all the emphasis on the raw power of the cell I thought it might be nice


to clarify it wouldnt have been converting for playing on the ps3.

The reason why I thought about it was that I was converting a 1080p film into another codec for someone and it was taking years!
