Using a Switch

I'm having a few people round in a few weeks (6 of us total) for a gaming night, all bringing our PC's.

Now, at the moment I've got a Superhub in Modem mode, with one of those fancy Asus routers. Anyway, the router is upstairs.

Ignoring the router (Turning it off/removing it from the network) if I just buy the switch ;

Do I just plug the superhub (Which is in modem mode) into the Switch? Or do I need the Superhub to be in router mode and connect it to the switch?

You need something to be acting as a router.

Urgh.

May's well just bring my router downstairs, put 4 in wired to that and 2 on Wifi then.
