I'm going to be living in France for a while. Can anyone see a problem with this plan:

French mains power
-> 2pin to 3 pin Socket Adaptor
-> 3pin UK 6x way surge adaptor
-> 1x (max 500W peak) MATX PC, 1x LCD monitor + occasional mp3, mobile phone chargers and a desk lamp

Could this cause problems in terms of safety/fuse blowing etc?

Thanks

Look at type E (earth pin on the socket) on that page, that will be the type you find installed most places in france, AFAIK, old buildings I suppose could only have type C two prong sockets though. Both sockets will accept two prong 'europlugs' for unearthed appliances though

Surge suppressors require an earth connection, filters and MOVs are connected bewteen the live conductors and the earth, using it without will result in loss of protection and a dangerous potential on the metal casing of appliances connected down stream

I wanted UK sockets when I was visiting a friend in norway (Type F earthed sockets), as my PSU came with a "german style" mains lead in addition to the UK one, I simply cut off the IEC end, and then used the plug & cable and rewired a 4way surge protector strip. As the surge protector is 13amp and fused, there is no way it can overload the 16 amp type F socket :)

Should be able to do the same thing for the french type E sockets. Just need the appropriate "kettle" lead.

So fully earthed, no adaptors, and 4 UK sockets for me to use. I wouldnt show it to a norwegian electrician though :)
