Not entirely sure where to past this thread so happy for mods to move it if it's clutter.

Questions in the title really. We've just got a new doggo and want to keep an eye on him in the kitchen tonight. I know you can link cams to the Echo itself and view them from there, but all I want is to be able to view what the echo sees from my phone somehow.

I use one as a baby cam and it isn't great. The Echo Show only displays live video for 5 minutes, and then you have to ask again. There is a workaround that someone on here recommended, but it isn't seamless. The good news? It is dirt cheap. Tapo C200/C210 are like £25, plus an Echo Show 5 (£50?) and it does the job. You can view it on your phone if you have an old device too.

I have the Tapo C200 as a baby cam and the Tapo app randomly asks you every 5 minutes if you want to continue viewing. Sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it does. Sometimes the video freezes or the sound just stops working. Using an RTSP viewer app or similar doesn’t seem to suffer the same issues, so I’m investigating how best to do that, maybe using homebridge on my rpi or something.

Excellent! Just ordered 2, thanks!

I ended up using the 'drop in' feature in the end. It worked fine but there's no way of totally muting the echo so had to cover cam and mic so as not to disturb dog.
