If only I knew I would have been upgrading my cpu, dammit. It was the best ddr1 corsair mem you could get too, with timings of 2.0-2-2-5
I got RMA replacements for 2 kits of Geil DDR550 and in my DFI NF4 Ultra-D using a Venice 3000+ and with all 4 dimms it does 275 FSB with the memory at 1:1 no problem (vdimm is only 2.6v):
The default when BIOS options are set to auto is DDR333!
It does depend on the motherboard and CPU but I'm sure with a decent board you should have no problems with your Opteron 185. The main concern would be problems related to the other dimms SPD settings being different but you would likely be able to fix such issues by modifying the SPD so they match.
Actually why not sell your 939 kit and switch to a P35 or 965 based motherboard and the E2180 overclocked to ~3GHz and 4GB DDR2?
It's likely you would get a fair amount of the needed cash from selling your 939 kit and it would save any hassles trying to get mismatched dimms working. More future proof too if you wanted to go for a quad core in the near future.![]()
. When I do a full upgrade in about a yrs time, I want the fastest there is, with 8gb of mem or something stupid like that, so it will last me another 3 or 4 yrs.
. its still at 213x13 but it has a devider of 2/1.66, so the fsb is only in the 180s... anyone want my opty for £100, its not even 2months old?lol
Using a 1T command rate isn't possible with 4 memory dimms I'm afraid well maybe you could if the memory was very underclocked but would likely defeat the purpose.
