Using an 8800GT, text in Windows looks blurred, fine in-game

I recently bought an LG M208WA monitor. I'm a bit disappointed because text in Windows such as internet pages, word processing etc isnt extremely sharp, it appears slightly blurry and hard to read. In-game it's fine. So I was thinking surely this cant be a monitor issue as its able to display in game text allright? I dont have another monitor to try this out through at the minute so I cant tell if its the monitor or graphics card. It's a Leadtek 8800GT 512mb. I've installed the latest Nvidia drivers and the drivers for this monitor. I dont know what to do now, hopefully someone else has had this issue and knows what to do

Does sound like refresh rate as my second monitor text is blured when I put the refresh rate at 75Hz, have to use 60Hz.

Yeah I've tried cleartype on and off, its not helped much to be honest. I'm connected via DVI, and yes I'm at 60hz on the native resolution.

I'm actually using firefox and open office, but I'll have a look to see if I can adjust anything. Should also say I'm using Vista 32 ultimate if that makes any difference. I'll bring my xp laptop back on friday to plug that in through the VGA input. That should show if it's a computer or monitor problem shouldnt it?

What's your res? I had the exact same problem @ 1440x900 and desktop use was crazily blur, tried all sort of drivers to no avail and all I needed to do was to change the focus in the screen's own setting. This's with 8800GTX, 8800 series is known with this problem at specific res. Nothing's wrong with your screen/card/driver it's all down to your screen settings, try to play with it.
Just noticed you're running Vista, if you've recently switched from XP to Vista then the latter does appear a bit blurer or rounder, give it a few days and you'll get used to with it.
Hope this helps.

I have the computers res set at 1680x1050 on a 20" monitor, as far as I'm aware the monitor is also set at that. I dont think there's any way to adjust the resolution on the screen actually, there isnt anything in the settings menu anyway.

edit - am back to using my laptop now, its definitely a much easier screen to read from. Feels horrible using low res again though, I feel like I have no space for anything! Will be back home with my desktop at the weekend but so far I'm thinking I might get rid of the LG monitor and go for a dell. Or is it just a case of getting used to higher res (this is 1280x800, desktop is 1680x1050)?
