not looking to spend too much money here at all on fancy water cooling kits etc really, but I am looking for some advice on how I can get this system to sound less like a hoover? I've already had a look in the bios etc for smart fan controls etc but I think I may have to replace the actual CPU fan itself?

I do believe the original fan is within, also the cpu is clocked around 3Ghz so that's gonna heat up quite a bit! I these run pretty hot even idling if I remember correctly? even back in the time when these were released I remember people complaining specifically to retailers that the fan was going up and down that much because of the heat generated they thought the systems were actually faulty when they were not, it was just damn ****in hot!

Can anyone advise how I can mod this system in any way so that it's much quieter?

I do not mind spending a little on it but was hoping to keep costs to a minimum, looking for advice into what are my best options are?

it's an iMedia 2469 running Geexbox.

hope somebody can advise. thanks.

Check the distance between the motherboard and side panel. A Coolermaster Hyper TX3 or preferably Hyper 212 should serve you well for £20 and £27 respectively if either fit. If that Packard Bell has a side funnel/baffle, that can hit the bin

YOUR BASKET
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £26.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £19.99
Total : £56.88 (includes shipping : £8.25).

Also, before you spend anything, check that the current HSF isn't plugged with dust
