Using an upgrade disc.. How to boot and intall NEW O/S ??

I can't seem to install my XP Pro upgrade disc (from xp home) as a standalone operating system.
All it wants to do is add XP Pro to the existing software and therefore turn the pc into a dual boot machine.
This isn't what I want. :mad:

I want a clean install.

Help!

Change the boot order in the Pc's BIOS to CD then HDD. Boot from the XP Pro disc and start the install. it will ask you to place a qualifing disc in the drive to check that you are entitled to install the upgrade version. When you have done that continue the install as normal.

I don't think you can do a clean install from a recovery disc but I stand to be corrected.

Xp home is on a recovery cd rather than a standalone disc and reading up on it further it does indeed look like it can't be done.

So two other choices..

VISTA
or
X64

Both standalone original discs..

I can't see ECUTEK software being vista compatible though
