Hi, I want to use my bluetooth headphones in the evening when my kids are in bed. My current AV setup is as follows

TV - LG G3 65
Soundbar - Samsung Q990c
Media Player - nvidia Shield

I've currently got the soundbar connected to the TV as eARC via a dedicated HDMI feed, other components i.e. xbox and nvidia shield are plugged directly into the TV to ensure max refresh rates. Everything works perfectly day to day, but occasionally I need to use by Sony bluetooth ear buds or headphones. For now I connect them directly via bluetooth to the Shield, but each time I do that my Plex content begins to transcode, I'm guessing down to stereo from the Atmos/5.1 soundtracks. My media server isn't great at transcoding 4k material as it's quite old and so can end up with sync issues, stuttering or buffering. I don't believe I can connect them to the soundbar, but tried last night experimenting at the TV level which seemed ok, but then Plex started using the soundbar again as I have things like pass through enabled. Is pairing with the TV the right approach? Ideally I don't want to have to mess around with the settings each time I've finished ideally I would just switch to bluetooth output and jobs a good'n. Any thoughts for people with a similar setup?

Thanks

I connect mine directly to the TV which is an LG C9. Depending one the different earbuds I use I get different levels of latency. I find devices that use aptx give the best latency.

Thanks, I'll give it another go with the TV route then.
