Hello Chaps,

My Query:

I'm moving to temporary accommodation which has internet provided via a Ethernet port. I was wondering if I could possibly connect a BT home HUB 2.0 or in fact an router into the Ethernet port and somehow get wireless internet through that to connect wireless devices?

I have no idea who the IP is at this stage, or where the cable is coming from :D From my research so that I figured I need to disable DCHP and something along those lines? (That's as far as I got)

I understand there are devices available in the market such as the TP Link 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router . But I found a hub lying around at home and well, that's free!

It'll depend on how many devices you want to connect, and the number of devices the provided Ethernet port will support. If you only have a single device, or the Ethernet will support multiple devices then you should be able to get away with just using an access point (or a router configured as one). Otherwise you will need a router with an Ethernet WAN port such as the TP-Link.

Personally I'd use a router as it'll provide you with additional isolation from the rest of the network.
