Right, as it stands, I currently have a spare router here (Netgear WNDR3700) that has only recently been flashed with the latest DD-WRT firmware update. Now, I must admit, I’d quite like to make use of this router rather than having it sitting around gathering nothing but dust. What I’d like to do is se this device as a bridged VPN.
Having recently subscribed to a VPN service, I must confess that only I have been it on my desktop machine using the software provided by the VPN. Now, what I’d like to do is bridge the Netgear router with my current router that was handed to me by my ISP. That way, I can have all devices connected to my home network make use of the VPN service rather than just myself. This would certainly bring peace of mind whilst the girlfriend uses her laptop/tablet to order whatever crap she’s buying next.
Now what I’d like is if someone can provide me with a guide on how to turn my Netgear into a bridged VPN using DD-WRT. My intension is to have it sitting directly next to my current router whilst remaining hardwired so there should be no reason for concern with regards wireless issues or anything like that.
On that note then, could someone please help send me over a guide on how to carry this out? Has anyone done this sort of thing before? And if so, is it fairly straightforward?
I don’t see any point in paying for a VPN service when I’m the only one making any use of it. If anything it would benefit the girlfriend more than it would benefit myself. With VPN access running permanently, it’s another added layer of security.
So on that note, any help would be much appreciated as always folks!
