using different GPU blocks

Hi
My 6990 has an alphacool block but I will have to fit an EK non ref block to my 6970. Will this be ok, i.e. will the fittings 'line up'

They certainly won't be perfectly straight, looking at the images.

Thanks- is it still viable? I have never watercooled SLI, so don't even know what the sli fittings are like

A little off topic but can you SLI a 6990 and a 6970? I thought for SLI or Crossfire to work both cards needed to be the same model?

i wouldnt try it tbh, you wont have a lot of space to work in and if the connection isnt solid, it could leak

cant you find a 6970 alphacool block?

with amd cards they dont need to be the same model, just be the same type so you can crossfire any of the 69xx cards: 6990 with 6970, 6970 with 6950, etc

Interesting I never knew that.

Back on topic:

I would also suggest trying to find a alphacool block, not only will they more likely line up but the asthetics of your rig will be nicer.

Thanks for the advice. I have a non ref card and the only one that will fit is the EK6970 v2
