Going go buy some more ram for my PC, i currently have corsair vengenace.

Can you put in different makes of ram whilst having my corsair ram with it, say I brought 8gb of Kingston ram and 8gb corsair, would it work?

You can mix Ram types, but there is no guarantee that your system will be stable. You might be lucky and it works fine, or you could end up with lots of blue screens.

I would say if you have to buy different Ram then try and get the closest to your current Ram (Timings/CAS latency). The speed shouldn't matter too much as it will clock down to the slowest module. i.e 1600 and 1333 will run at 1333.

yes but you wouldnt get the full benefits of dual channel as if they were all the same make and model...just some more exactly what you have already

I've done this loads of times and had no issues.

At one point I had an 8GB kit of Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz and a 16GB kit of Kingston Value 1333MHz, both at 1600MHz with the same timings and voltage, dual channel etc working fine. :p

I also had four completely mismatched sticks of DDR3 running at identical settings in dual channel with no issues in an old AM3 system. :)

Its not recommended to mix and match, hence why they sell them in kits, but if you have to then its best to get them at the same time, obviously this cant alway be possible so alway best to by the same as you did before but not even that is guaranteed to work, but thats not to say it wont, i rather wave on the side of caution and limit my chances of problems.
