Using Driver cleaner

I have a new ati 3870 and have just downloaded driver cleaner. However do i clean the drivers of my nvidia card then put in the new ati card or put in the new card and then clean the nvidia drivers?

Go to Add/Remove and remove the Nvidia Display, then shut down, switch cards over, then switch on and go straight into safe-mode, run driver cleaner to remove the Nvidia leftovers, then reboot normally, cancel the Found New Hardware Wizards, then install new drivers.

Thats what i used to do when i used driver cleaner, and never had a prob. :)
