Using Eero 6 extender vs. Eero 6 WiFi router?

Hey guys,

I have a basic mesh system setup through my Vodafone internet. I have a Eero 6 router unit that connects to my main Vodafone router via Ethernet, the other side of the room I have a Eero 6 extender then across the hall in my room I have another Eero 6 extende, and the last is at the back of the house in my man cave, which is the same as my “main Eero” , being connected through the house via ethernet.

now, what im planning to do is get one more for the kitchen. This will be the closest part of the house to my driveway where in the summer months I will be using my outdoor golf simulator. And rather than directly connecting the unit to my iPad, I can still use “network mode” because there will be a decent signal coming from the kitchen.

now, my main point lol! Can i Get a Eero 6 router hub, and use it wirelessly, essentially making it an extender, eg. No Ethernet cable needed, or will it need to be like my other two that are just “extenders”?

Sourced a Eero 6 router. Going to do some testing when I get it.

Basically, test wi if on my iPad outside where my mat will be with and without the router setup in the kitchen, hopefully, for convenience sake, it’s works ok.

Yes, for most routers you can disable the routing functions of it and use it in "access point" mode which should be what you're after. WiFi extenders tend to just be repeaters and not as effective.

Ensure the SSIDs are the same.

Man, I love Eero products..

Literally, plugged into a socket in the kitchen, opened the app, it scanned for a new device, and boom found and connected in about 5 seconds.

Went outside to where I need the home network to be stable, and seemed to get a good conection!

Happy. :)
