Using electrical wire instead of solder?

I need to attach wires to a switch but dont have a soldering iron at hand, is it ok to use electrical wire to stick it on instead?

It'll probably work but will not be a very reliable connection. If the switch tabs have a little hole in them you could try stuffing the wire through that and then wrapping around a few times and then holding in place with PVC tape.

Not reliable as in the risk of it detaching or something to do with the current? i could twist it around the tabs and then stick the tape over it and make sure its tight

Can you not get hold of some crimp lugs? Assuming the switch has the prongs to slide the crimps onto.
