using firefox to access network drives/computers

i'm trying to access network drives using firefox - until i realised that they're using dynamic IPs, i was going by IP address, but i can't now. say if my computer is call "aserver", how would i access resources on it? i have tried:

http://aserver
//aserver
/aserver
\aserver
\\aserver

does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

i think it's being a monkey because im using Mac. i'll just have to know the IP address i think
