Hi all

I am reletivley new to all this web design stuff so i apologise if im asking stupid questions.

i have created a nice looking header for my site using adobe flash i have our company logo to one side of the header with a photo occupying the rest of the header space.

i have created a motion tween that displays the photo and moves the photo to the left and up to create the impression of a panning effect. then fades the photo out and the next photo in i have used 10 photos in all.

but when i export this to swf and previw it the movement is very jerky i have tried using a classic tween and i get the same result i have also increased the fps to maximum but it is still creating a jerky movement. The fade in and fade out works fine.

could anyone help me with this am i going about the design of the header all wrong? im starting to pull my hair out a bit i really like the look that this would create for my site and dont want to give up on it just yet.
thanks again

Personal opinion is you shouldn't use flash for this kind of stuff as it will be broken on many devices and help bog down many others. Other than that, I can't be of help sorry.

My guess is that you don't have enough frames in the tween.

I'd recommend js over Flash for this anyday. There are tons of jquery plugins out there doing something similar. If you took the time to learn jquery, you could even just write your own animation.

There are 210 frames running at 35 fps in the movement section of the tween
giving me about 6 secounds of display and picture before the fade starts.

do you think this is adequate i can increase the fps and almost get rid of the judder but its still there but m pictures display for about a secound and if i increase the frames the juddering just returns.

im not totally against using another program to achive this but i have seen this done in flash on a site im sure that im just missing something somewere just not sure what.

i appreaciate your comments guys keep them coming

thanks PMWD

I have fixed the issue i had.

i went into the library tab in the flash program and looked under properties to check the image size to respond to pmwd's question and in doing so saw that there was a check box for jpeg smoothing.
i checked this and tested the file again and it moves smoothely.

thanks to all who have posted and i hope that if some one experiencecs the same issue they find this infomation useful.
