Using front panel connector on Xonar DG Soundcard

maybe stupid question...
but Ive connected the case front panel headphone connector to the header on the Xonar DG souncard. Now i only get sound when i plug headphones/speakers to the jack onthe front panel, not the jack on the back of the soundcard.
I was wanting to connect my speakers to the output on back of the soundcard as normal (permananetly), and when I wanted to use headphones, connect the headphones to the jack on the case front panel...but doenst seem to work. Any ideas?

Have you changed the output from FP headphones/speakers to speakers/headphones?

No...is that done in the control panel software?

Yes. Will be in the analogue out selection box.

The DG has auto sensing, so when you insert a jack into a front socket, it will switch to that output. Once the jack is removed however, it doesn't switch back.

The auto sensing is a bit hit and miss though. Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't.
