to another one. As said, I have a generic cable, not official one.

My lad's HDD is 20 gig but have bought a 60gig from the Members Market and need to migrate it all across.

Is Xport 360 good enough to do that? Though i see it can't do a simple image port straight over to the new drive.

If using Xport is best option, can I simply port over the saves/ profile folders and then install the games on it and let it all update from Live?

Or should I install games first, then import saves/ profile.

Many thanks for helping this noob.;)

Or should I just do this (quoted from a page i found):

1. Load your existing 20 or 60 GB Hdd on 360
2. Sign in to Xbox Live
3. Go to System Settings...Memory
4. Move your Xbox Live Profile to MU (Memory Unit)
5. Proceed to move up your saved files in the games folder from 20 or 60 Gb HDD to MU until full.
6. Once saves are all complete (or card is full) you done with the hard part(this may take a couple of times transferring depending on how big your saves are and how many games you have)
7. Turn off 360...slap on new drive 120Gb or 250Gb
8 Log into Xbox Live with your profile.
9. Go back to system...memory and begin to move saves from MU to new HDD
10. Make sure you move your profile back from MU to new HDD after your done. Log back into Xbox Live and retrieve all Market Place content ( ie...Rock Band 1,2 downloads.. etc)
11. You done! Believe me... it's faster than the transfer cable and software....

You can just use a USB stick now, that was the easiest for me :)

Yeah, after buying the (admittadly cheap) cable... it dawned on me that I have a 16gig memory stick. However when formatting it to work with the Xbox, it moans about its performance requirements not being to spec and games etc. might not work.

Not running games from it anyway.... but wonder if it will be reliable to move the stuff over on it? If its due to the stick not being fast enough I dont suppose that will be an issue for just porting the files over.

Even so.... is the list above all I need to move over? Not bothered about saved video/ demo's etc. Just need it up and running on his 2 heavily played games MW2 and BF2. Any other files I need to migrate? And can I install the games on the drive *after* the files are put on the new drive or before?

Thanks for info!

OK, just about to start the migration across as finally have my son's 20gig HDD here, can anyone tell me if I should install the games before I move the saves across, pretty please? ;)
