Using HDMI out and my xonar Pheobus

I am getting a new AV amp that doesn't have 5.1 analogue ins and so I would like to use the hdmi out on one of my gigabyte 970s. However one of the staff told me that if you use the HDMI out on a graphics card it always uses the onboard soundcard.

I am also using the asus rog swift monitor via Display port so I would also need to output the sound via hdmi and the picture via displayport simultaneously.

Does anyone know of a way around this or what I should do other than using optical which doesn't have the bandwith I want.

Thanks

Alas even my relatively high end av amp the denon 6200w doesn't come with 5.1 analogue inputs.

Annoyingly asus have removed the dolby digital live option via optical out in Windows 10.

Thank you for all the advice, I will try the hdmi out on my motherboard and get back to you.
