Using hotmail with Mail?

Hi guys!

Just bought my macbook today and am setting everything up with it - and am looking to link my hotmail account with the mail client.

Have no idea how to do it, I assume I need some kind of 3rd party software to do so?

Any help would be appreciated (loving the macbook so far! )

Think it can be done but it's not straightforward. Have to use httpmail.

Recommended by someone on here and have been using it for a few months now. Works perfectly for me on Imap. The only problem is that you have to login to the Izymail site with your Hotmail details, but hasn't caused any problems for me.

It would be best if you can migrate from Hotmail to Google Mail and doing it this way is much easier especially if you own an iPhone or an iPod touch

Definitely move to Gmail - it supports the POP3 & IMAP standards meaning you'll never have this problem again

Got to agree with the Gmail reccomendations. Been with them since it was invitation only and you cant go wrong them.

Forgot to mention, what I meant by "migrate" is that you can transfer your emails from your Hotmail account to a new Google Mail account

Ok, thanks guys - might have to do that. Thing is though - what am I going to do with all the online profiles that are linked with my hotmail account?

Change it to Google Mail?

Windows Live Hotmail is poor in comparison to Google Mail which is why it's worth migrating to Google Mail

If you use MSN, you can sign up on Windows Live ID in order use your new Google Mail account to log into MSN. That is, if you transfer all your existing MSN contacts

Yeah, I had this same problem with hotmail, so moved to gmail.
