Using IPhone 5G data with lighting to usb c along with ADSL broadband connected from router to Ethernet, bridged/unbridged

I was wondering what the difference between having ADSL and mobile data connected the difference bridging the connections and not. Because sometimes the speed seems just as fast unbridged. But quite often if I try to bridge I get the blue screen bridge.sys error, and online games take a while to connect.
