using laptop screen as second pc screen

was thinking of buying a second tft for my desktop but as i have a laptop on the way i was hoping that there might be some software/way tha i could just use the screen of the laptop as the second screen for the desktop? i know i could use both the laptop and desktop but it would be easier for obvious reasons just to have 2 screens for one device rather then keep switching between mice, keyboards etc.

Your laptop needs vga/dvi in, which it won't have.

yeah i did think of that way which i may end up doing to save me money, its just as the files will be on my desktop and would be easier to plug the laptop screen if it was possbile in as a second, rather then unplugging the desktop one and plugging it into the laptop.
