Hey guys, finally bought myself a new Xbox and I'd like to use my x540 5.1 speakers from Logitech with it and not have to keep swapping cables around, thinking I'd need a splitter?

Tv is a technika 42", Xbox360 is connected via hdmi, pc via dvi-vga adaptor. Using hdmi with my pc isn't an option as I can't get the image to display properly (too sharp/washed out with colour issues).

I'm grateful for any help, Mikey.

You could use some splitter to connect them to both PC and TV. That will only work with the main green jack though, as TVs don't output 5.1 via analogue. I think the X540 have a feature which upmixes stereo to 5.1, so you should get sound from all speakers doing it that way.

The other way of doing it might be to connect the Xbox to the PC using optical from the Xbox. You'd need a sound card with optical input though.

Thanks for the reply :) I might just move to some 2.1 or 3.1 speakers with optical, I've had these for a few years now and the buzzing wakes me up sometimes :p

Any recommendations? Not wanting to break the bank, probably max £70ish

There aren't any 3.1 speakers and very few 2.1 speakers with optical input. Looking for speakers with optical input seriously limits your choice of speakers. In my opinion, you'd be better off getting a DAC (digital to analogue converter) and then connecting any set of 2.0/2.1 speakers to that. For £30 you could get a FiiO D3, connect that to your Xbox via optical cable, then spend whatever you can afford on speakers and connect them to the D3 output.

The D3 has two digital inputs, so if your motherboard has coaxial output, you can connect both PC and Xbox to it.
