I am trying this for the first time, that is to connect my phone via USB to touchscreen. Initially had some problems trying to link with USB, Mirrorlink or Bluetooth, but got there in the end with USB. I am currently using the android auto app for navigation, but having a mixed experience. An answer to one question would help a lot, and that is do I need a wifi connection during driving/navigation after set up? Thanks.

You need a data connection yes. As you're already using your phone, you've got that covered so I can't see there being an issue?
OK, cheers, it was just that after I planned the route at home connected to home wifi, when connected via USB phone to screen, I was navigated from A to B without a connection during the journey (mobile data off), but I couldn't get it work on the return journey until I switched mobile data on. Haven't got a unlimited data usage plan at the moment, and wasn't sure how much data navigation takes.
