Using my old pc parts..?

So, the new pc is working just fine, and I now have a complete left over pc that works just fine, but is not very fast.
So, what do I do with it ?
It has an Asus p4p800-E mobo, and a P4 2.8 chip, with 1.5 gig of RAM and a terratec aurion soundcard and Nexus silent 400w psu all in a soundproofed case. Is it worth trying to make it into some sort of server for my music (I have started the fun-filled task of ripping 3000 cds already..) and if so, what suggestions do you have..?

Sell it
Give it to someone as a christmas present
Use it as a HTPC
Use it to control a display of christmas lights outside your house
Use it to cook your christmas dinner

What would I need to do to make it into a HTPC ?
We have no Christmas lights, and my daughter may inherit it, but only if I know there is no better use for it..

Then make it into a file server. You can do it for free using Linux, or you can buy WHS and do it like that. Depends what you want from it.

I'm assuming you've got a graphics card of some sort in there, so hook it up to your tv, et voila, you can watch iplayer in the comfort of your own lounge. If you get a tv card and connect it to a sky box or aerial you'll be able to record live tv.

What is a file server ?
Is it rather like an external hard drive but one that can be accessed by others ?
