Using non Apple mouse with MacBook Pro

Hi All,

So I recently found myself having to do some work on my MacBook Pro and decided to setup my external mouse and keyboard on it for the first time.

The experience with the mouse was terrible to be honest...

The mouse was unresponsive and felt laggy when moved and also the scroll wheel seemed to scroll in reverse (seemed to be based on the multi touch settings).

1) Is there a way to fix the laggy mouse? Is it a known issue?
2) Is there a way for the scroll wheel to work normally and not use the multi touch settings?

So just tested my mouse again and the performance is horrible, it really doesn't feel as smooth as it should and scrolling is jerky...

Tested a second mouse out on it as well and same thing.

Not really looking to invest in 3rd party software, surely this can't be a known issue with MacBook's can it? I really don't feel like i should have to invest in a pricey Apple mouse in order to get normal mouse use...
