Hi guys,

Quick question... just moved house and getting Sky installed on Wednesday, 4 boxes in total.

One of my housemates already has a Sky+ box from her previous flat but Sky say you can't use the box in another property.

Is this true or is it a case of Sky saying that to get more money out of us. They quoted £228 for installation (3 Sky+ boxes, 1 normal box).

Cheers.

Yes you can use the old box, provided the subscription it was attached to in the previous property has finished :). There wouldn't be such a lucrative second hand market for Sky boxes if you couldn't ;).

I thought that was the case. Cheers Memphis.

Is it just a case of plugging the box in or will it need programming to the LMB?

Might ask Mr Skyman to run another cable into my room and swap the normal box for the redundant Sky+ box when he's gone ;)

Nope, just plug it in :D.

I take it you're gonna have a viewing card for the extra box though yeah? That's the one thing you can't take with you, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, all of the boxes will have a new card. So, just need to swap that over into the Sky+ box?

One other question, when you said this...

provided the subscription it was attached to in the previous property has finished

That means either the contract had expired normally or was cancelled mid contract? So as long as there isn't a live subscription at the old property it'll work?
