Hey guys,
Off to US in a week and have suspended my contract with orange whilst I'm away. I have a D500 which is triband, so is it possible to take the phone with me and use it with a US payg sim? is the phone locked to orange? if so can I unlock it legally? any help welcome.

The easiest way to check if a phone is unlocked is to borrow a friends SIM from a different operator and try it. If it works it's unlocked, if it doesn't then it's locked.

Orange charge £20 for unlocking contract phones. Depending on the phone it may be done immediately by Orange by them sending instructions to your phone. Or they may phone you and require you to enter the phones service menu. Or they may send you a letter instructing you how to unlock the phone.

To unlock a PAYG phone, Orange charge 20p!

orange will also ask you to pay the rest of your contract if your still within it if you want it unlocked

I am already out of my year contract with them, and I have just tried an O2 sim and the phone asked me to enter a network unlock code, so I guess that means its locked.
