Using potentially wet cable?

I had burst pipe at the weekend and the water flowed into my bedroom where my computer stuff is and caused the carpet to get wet. I had various cables on the floor.

I'm getting new cables except for my asus pg279q power cable since I can't find a new one for a good price.

Only the bottom of the ac adapter got a bit wet. Would it be OK to use it still? It's dried off and I tried turning it on but not plugged into the monitor and it was OK.

you can get electronics wet so long as they don't have current running through them at the same time.
then obviously make sure they are completely dried out before putting current through them.

personally I wouldn't have replaced any of those cables :)

Cables themselves are pretty waterproof... if they got affected by water you'd get affected handeling them... i.e. shocks... so the insulation is good on 'most' cables.... mind the chinese cables are usualy better for insulation... they like to use thick insulation to hide the tiny conductors they are using :)

it's the electronic bits at the ends of the cables that don't like getting wet... but as has been said, if they are not powered on when they get wet, most electronic items survive... as long as they are dry when re-powered up.

I had a leaky pipe once... right by my simulator PC and 1960's fruit machines... the only thing that shows that it ever happened was rusty marks on the carpet where the metal feet of the fruit machines had sat in the wet carpet before it dried out (de-humidifier in the room for a few days sorted the carpet)
