Hi all,

Long shot really, but does anyone have any experience of printing to a locally attached printer from a HP thin client using Windows XP embedded please?

thanks.

Fishthrower (lol great username!) - i'm trying to get it to print in anyway possible, either storing the drivers locally or by using the HP Universal Printer Driver with Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Problems I've had so far are - not enough room to install even the basic drivers locally on the internal flash drive, Universal print driver not recognising the printer (HP Deskjet 6940)

Zap - how to get them to work at all really! I'm open to all ideas, can't use citrix or altiris though, we have a Microsoft infrastructure. Would love to print from the printer locally off the thin client and via RDP.

ok well i've managed to get a K7100 basic driver on there. WHat spec model have you got? Can you up the ramdisk manager to max in the control pannel?

Hi mate I know this is late response - even better I edited the environment variables for temp directories to a USB drive so it can have enough room to unpack and install whatever it wants.

Even using the most basic driver (22MB listed on HP's site) for the printer (I am struggling to remember but can Post the model tomorrow) it still doesnt work. It doesnt moan about lack of space at least though when i do the USB temp drive trick.

What model thin client are you using mate?

Does it just not like the OS because it's embedded?

Yeah post what you're trying and i'll give it a bash on one of ours. I can't remember the exact model, i'll find out tomorrow.
