Hi What it is, I'm running Mint 9 in Virtual mode within Win 7 using Oracle VirtualBox, and cannot get Thythmbox to play a music cd. Anybody any ideas on how to get it to work. Thanks:)

Tried that, but go no joy with it, here is a screen shot.

Well you have a host drive using passthrough. When you put your CD-ROM in, it should automount in Linux and appear as an icon in Mint. Does it?

In the Virtualbox console window (of your running virtual machine) you can click the little CD/DVD icon at the bottom and check that "host drive" is hooked up.

No it wont do that.
In the window, if you right click in the cd icon at the bottom, there is a click beside the host cd.

I get this if I try to play a pre recorded disc.

Ok that's good as the helper app sounds like its detecting it as an audio CD correctly. You're then unable to mount it, I guess this is due to the pre-recorded nature of the disk.

Try this:

Open Terminal
sudo apt-get install libcdio

Then re-try playing the CD.
