Hey all I posted this thread yesterday but didn't get any replies I'm hoping there's someone around today that can help?.
When I use the search tool in vista 64bit and type in part of the filename windows usually will not find the file. For example if I search for "elvis" and the file is called "jailhouserockelvis" windows will not find the file even though indexing is switched on for all my drives. With win xp if you do an advanced search there was a seperate option to type in all or part of a filename which always worked but vista doesn't seem to have this which seems a real step backwards.

Does anyone know how to get this working??

try searching for

*elvis*

the *'s are called 'wildcards' basically means search for anything containing elvis anywhere in the filename

no problem

i've always searched like that, didn't know they'd changed it for vista

off topic, does anyone know if you can enable classic search (as you can in xp), so you have a windows 2000 style search bar, its a lot less fiddly!
