My desktop PC has a motherboard with dual LAN adapters. One is in use connected to a router while the other is vacant/disabled. My laptop has a crappy external Wi-Fi adapter that has a habit of dropping connection and generally being unreliable. If I enable and bridge the second LAN adapter with the one that's connected to the router and plug in the laptop to it via ethernet cable would the laptop be able to connect to/see the router?

Would this work? The PC would act as a conduit allowing the laptop to piggyback on it's connection. I guess you could say it's acting like a switch.

It will work but you will need to enable internet connection sharing on the PC, and on the laptop you will need to set the PC as your default gateway.
