using the IR on your phone any good?

I have a s6. Considering buying an app off the android market.

wondering how good it can be

Galaxy S5.... The IR works on roughly a 50 degree arc i.e. 25 degrees either side of a direct alignment. The Sky remote is better and gives positive results on about a 100 degree arc. My Prontos and Nevo remotes have a mega powerful IR blaster. They work on about a 270 degree arc!
