Now there is probably a very easy solution for this problem but I know nothing about how networks/telephone lines work so have probably done something wrong.
We have recently moved house and with it have had a BT line and bt broadband. What I have at the moment is a phone socket downstairs with the home phone plugged into it along with sky. From that socket runs a cable upto my bedroom where I have my computer and my router is plugged into that socket.
When we moved in the upstairs phone line didn't work so I had a little mess around and had ago at wiring it to the socket downstairs. At the moment I have 2 wires into where each one of them goes into A & B and the line which goes upstairs is wired to 2, 3 & 5 at both ends (Hope this makes sense to somebody because I'm confusing myself).
This all seems to work perfectly until we use the phone. The weird thing is that it is possible to use the broadband while the call is in progress just not when first receiving or ending the call.
Anybody know what the problem might be apart from my obvious lack of knowledge on the subject?
