System as below using Vista, I have no HDMI on MOBO, so it's VGA.

I have had this working, but it's really hit and miss.

What are settings used on NV control panel? ie primary and secondary, and where to drag the boxes with the in if that makes sense?

I can't used clone mode either for some reason, TV newish samsung flatty, similair to monitor in fact.

Also now when TV is connected to GPU via adapter, windows won't start up past the password screen, I disconnect TV and it's fine.

As I've said I have had this working and have dragged over films from monitor to TV, and had monitor as desktop, with just a background image showing on PC monitor.

Hi there, you mention that there is no HDMI on the motherboard - however your GTX 260 can do HDMI with a cheap HDMI to DVI adapter, does your TV have a HDMI port?

The options you want to set in nvidia control panel is "Dualview", also you will want your monitor (not TV) to be the primary display.

Hi there,

Yes it has a HDMI port (broke until Uni grant arrives! ; ) ), but for now i'd like to get VGA working as it was before, there's no dualview option by the way as the control panel won't recognise the TV anymore.

As I said the PC won't even start up when TV is connected to PC - Im just gonna try that again.

When you say it won't start up, do you get to the windows login screen on your monitor?

If you get to this, what does it do when you enter your password, can you hear the startup sounds through your speakers?

Also, is your TV definately set the the correct input setting (will be either "PC" or "VGA")?

Finally, may I ask what the model number of your samsung TV is?

I fiddled with the VGA connector on my TV and as if by magic (so I guess it coulda just been a poor connection right?) - the last startup worked. There's a background on my TV, and the TV is showing in CP.

I've been able to drag over a film to watch too.

CP looks like this:

box ticked (1) Monitor
box ticked (2) Analogue

and below the Monitor is shown as larger box to the left or the TV and is starred - they numbered 1 and 2 respectively.

Still not sure where 'dualview' is however.

Yup, i get the little jingle, enter password and then it goes black, however I think with some j-j-j-jiggling with the VGA connection to the TV i've solved that as well.

Yeah, the 'channel' on my TV shows PC.

Sounds good.

Just check that the TV resolution and scaling is correct, then you will be sorted :)

Thanks for your help by the way.

;)

By the way is there a way I could control sound with my tv remote when watching films from PC on my TV - it's a faff getting in and out of bed to adjust volume on my PC speakers!

:p

You're very welcome :)

You can, but you will need a cable to connect the sound card of the PC to the audio-in of the TV.

I couldn't get a hit off "le226a456cd2xxu" so I can't tell you whether your TV's audio input is 3.5mm stereo or L/R Phono (RCA). Depending on which of these it is you will need a cable with a male 3.5mm stereo connection (to connect to your sound card) and either a male 3.5mm stereo connection or male L/R phono connection to connect to the TV (depending on the connection it uses).

Thanks, it's got audio L/R on it in two places. It looks the same size as audio out on my sound card.

I've noted down what you've said and will try it later when I get the right cables.

Thanks again.
